In the 1950s there was behavioral therapy. Then in the 1960s Aaron Beck, a psychiatrist at The University of Pennsylvania, who had previously used psychoanalysis, concluded that psychoanalytical concepts of depression were faulty and  devised a different process. He did extensive research and today CBT is backed by research and was taken to be the therapy of choice by the NHS , probably because it appeared to be quick, cheap and easy and was backed scientifically. Also, psychiatrists working in the NHS liked the analytical approach it took.

CBT sets clear goals for therapy and helps you respond to inaccurate or unhelpful ideas and thoughts. Once you’ve realised you are thinking dysfunctionally you gain perspective and you can learn techniques to change the faulty thoughts.

CBT works from the premise that  we can change our feelings through changing our thoughts, whereas hypnotherapy recognises how our feelings can sweep away rational thinking and can teach you how to make changes to your state of mind, to learn new ways of thinking and can help you rehearse for situations in Hypnosis.

CBT combined with hypnotherapy is a very powerful way to help you help yourself . CBT alone sticks to a rigid programme of 8 sessions and structures the therapy accordingly.

I will do my best to work thoroughly, logically and quickly with you and usually like to combine CBT with hypnotherapy, NLP and coaching as I do not believe that any one therapy has all the answers.

Sessions

You will need between 3-8 sessions, although, as you are in control of your own therapy length and intensity you can leave when you feel you can manage without my help. I always tailor make your therapy and give 100%, aiming to work with you as thoroughly and quickly as possible.

Fees

An initial FREE consultation of 15 minutes is available for you from Get Mind Fit to see if your problem would be appropriately treated with CBT or a combination of techniques. Afterwards, each session, lasting around 50 minutes costs £90 or lasting around 75 minutes costs £120.

To cover administration costs, appointments not cancelled 48 hours beforehand or no shows may be charged a fee of £50.
