How Hilary Can Help

Why choose Hilary

Working as a hypnotherapist and NLP Practitioner since the early 90's and as a mindfulness teacher since 2000. I work with individuals and organisations to help you resolve your issues and achieve your potential with a tailor made approach, using my extensive toolbox online and face to face.
Hypnotherapy, mindfulness and teaching continue to influence my life for the better. Sometimes I don’t feel as if I am working as I work in an area I am passionate about. If only self hypnosis and mindfulness were taught as part of the National Curriculum I am convinced the children of today would grow up happier and healthier.

I am passionate about helping others resolve their issues and passing on my knowledge and insights to the next generation of hypnotherapists I teach. I’ve offered CPD to beginner and experienced therapists and presented internationally.

Anxiety

Since Covid, there’s been a huge rise in stress, anxiety, depression, panic attacks and phobias.

Hypnotherapy on its own or combined with NLP, Mindfulness, CBT techniques and coaching is the answer.

Through my years of practice and experience I can help you:

  • Become confident in yourself
  • Overcome shyness, lack of assertiveness in work, sports and social situations
  • Increase your resilience
  • Overcome past issues that have been holding you back
  • Conquer panic attacks and phobias

Vaping

There is increasing evidence showing how harmful vaping is and how easy it is to become hooked on the high levels of nicotine present invapes.

Hypnotherapy has always had a good level of success helping clients overcome bad habits such as  over eating, nail biting, gambling and smoking.

Now,I’m using these methods to help you stop vaping.

I know if a double session or 3 individual sessions is the answer, after you’ve answered one simple question.

Smoking

Hypnotherapy has  a good (around 66-67%) success rate in helping clients stop smoking for good.

When you give the correct answer to one simple question, you are ready to stop and remain a non smoker for the rest of your life.

Your imagination is far stronger than will power alone and , as long as you play your specially prepared audio file , you’ll find the early days of stopping smoking much easier.

FAQs

What is hypnosis?

Many might say that all hypnosis is self hypnosis. My belief is, to quote Shakespeare: 'Life is but a waking dream' anyway and maybe the job of a hypnotherapist is to help our clients out of the negative trances they are in and back in to positive ones.

Hypnosis is a natural way of being and we all know how to do it. It can be be thought of as a mix of belief, expectation and imagination, which, in combination, are far more powerful than will power alone. It’s about having the right mindset.

The audio files I tailor make for each individual client, help guide you into a relaxed state of mind, but with heightened awareness. Some people believe, mistakenly, that you can only achieve it under the guidance of a therapist. However, I teach self-hypnosis to most clients and it is particularly important for use with pain management.

You also need to achieve deeper hypnosis for regression work, but most issues can be helped, even if you are only in light hypnosis.

The good news is, you get better at hypnosis , the more you practise it.

  • How is it different from counselling?

I don’t just talk about the issue. From the very beginning I use suggestion therapy to help you make the changes and progress you want for yourself. Later on, there are interventions to help you make the changes you want for yourself to achieve your own outcomes.

  • Is it the same as CBT?

Definitely not, although, having been trained in CBT techniques, Imay use some as part of my extensive toolbox. CBT uses the consciousmind, as does counselling, whereas in hypnosis, you bring into playthe great potential and power of the unconscious or deeper mind.

  • Am I asleep, unconscious or in a coma during hypnosis?

Definitely not, although some clients sometimes fall off to sleep, particularly those who are using hypnosis to overcome sleeping problems.

Hypnosis more akin to how  we feel when we are deeply engrossed in an activity, on automatic pilot or just before we go to sleep or wake up.

  • Is it the same as Mindfulness?

Definitely not. Mindfulness is all about training your conscious mind, whereas hypnosis is all being in tune with your subconscious or intuitive mind. As a mindfulness teacher, I also teach some techniques if you require or need them. In meditation you may drop into a deep, meditative state, more akin to self hypnosis.
